Brace yourselves.. The Emmy’s are coming!
Hosted by Seth Meyers, nominations have been announced this Thursday, already there seems to be an array of different opinions, a few casual nods here and there, it’s almost like going through a wormhole. Better yet picture yourself as Tom Cruise in The Edge of Tomorrow, a soldier reliving the same day of combat, or Bill Murray in Groundhog Day were everything is a constant loop, it’s all the same but every year there seems to be a minor adjustments coming through… you get my gist.
Shows coming out the wood work with series like True Detective and Orange Is the New Black are finally getting recognised as truly amazing shows are starting to earn their seat. As well as Netflix gaining attention as last year it seemed to be a fish out of water, now bursting out with 31 nominations including Derek by the talented and ballsy Ricky Gervais.
And that’s not all, Oscar stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, (12 Years A Slave) has picked up his first Emmy nomination for the miniseries “Dancing on the Edge”. Matthew McConaughey best known for his risk taking performances, and warm up routines will be nominated ‘Best Actor in a Drama Series: True Detective’, if he wins he will be the first actor to win both an Oscar and Emmy in one year! It’s looking like a battle between HBO’s True Detective and AMC’s Breaking Bad to snatch the title of ‘Best Drama Series’. Joining the battle for the best drama throne will be Game of Thrones, the choices are incredible and I give my nods to all three immaculate shows, but I can imagine Breaking Bad could make a victory for themselves, either way every year it’s a nail biting moment, next year I’m sure to wake up with the same predictions.
