Baron Jay (The Condo) – Interview

By Victoria Myerscough @thebookthefilm · On January 1, 2018

Baron Jay has done it all – we’d need a whole page to list his accomplishments – but his main feat this year is bringing to the screen one of the most fun comedies we’ve seen in quite some time, The Condo.

Looking back on the year, how successful for you was it?

Out of 1 out of 10? I will give it a 10. Every year gets better in every way

What was the highlight?

The highlight was being introduced to Bitcoin, mining and cryptocurrency

What was the most surprising bit of feedback you heard about the movie?

One of my peers said him and his boys talked about doing what we did in the movie which was renting a condo for the purpose of taking their girlfriend to the Mancave.

How long had you been working on it for?

The Condo movie was a script for 3 years before we went into production. I took the writers Bill Moroni and Bill Dumas 90 days to complete the script once I gave them the ideal and concept.

And was the press campaign equally as long?

NO! I wish…..The press campaign began two weeks before the film was released on Video on Demand.

How important do you feel it is to do press for a film?

I feel doing press is more important than the film itself. You need the press to bring awareness to your film.

Can positive and negative reviews affect the performance of a movie?

I believe both positive and negative reviews are important for the movie performance. Its art you can please everyone. It is subjective. Do you believe every woman I dated or meet me wants to marry me…of course not…..but because they do not want to marry me; does not mean I am not marrying material. You get my point. Some people want to marry me and others do not. The same for the Condo movie.

It’s the end of the year, so let’s talk ‘years best’. For you, what was the best movie of the year?

My mind is drawing a blank right now for the best movie of the year.

Anything you were disappointed by?

Yes…I wish could share my talents and work with more people. I am thinking about duplicating myself….lol

What about movie music? Any soundtracks you were impressed by in 2017?

I love movie music it sets the tone of the scene. I am impressed with many soundtracks but I do not know who performed them!

What about TV? Anything you think ‘ruled’ this year?

The NARCO TV series on Netflix.

If you could have been involved in any one movie this year what would it have been?

That movie would be Equalizer 2 directed by Mr. A. Fuqua starring Denzel Washington.

What does 2018 hold in store for you?

I will produce 2 movies, a sitcom, raise capital for my film fund and invest more in cryptocurrency. Secondly, I will continue to work with our inner city youth via the Baron Jay Foundation in the arts, financial education and entrepreneurship.

Is there a genre you haven’t tackled that you’d like to next year?

I would like to do a faith base supernatural film or bio picture.

For those wanting to buy a film of yours for Christmas, what would you recommend and where can they get it?

I recommend everyone to rent or own the Condo movie which is available on iTunes, Amazon, Fandango now, Google Play and video on demand. www.gravitasventures.com/thecondo
