Christmas TV schedules have been extremely disappointing this year – with few flagship specials to brighten our festive viewing. The jewel in the BBC crown though was always going to be the much anticipated return of Sherlock to BBC One last night with average viewing figure of 9.2m (peaking at 9.7 during the first five minutes).
Sherlock (Cumberbatch) and Watson (Freeman) were reunited after a the apparent death of Sherlock at the end of the last series – and we were treated to some weird and wonderful versions of just how Sherlock managed to do it.
Consolidated figures, including iPlayer views will be available next week.
