2021 had some fantastic releases, but we’re really looking forward to what 2022 has to offer. Here’s a rundown of our most anticipated games of 2022.
Yeah, we had to start the list with this one – a follow up to one of the greatest games of all time, we couldn’t not list the BOTW sequel. We haven’t seen too much from it, but we know it is on its way and will make use of the sky as a setting, even if we know little else. It’s likely that Nintendo have some big plans for this game, and it will be intriguing to see where they take Link next.
5 – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel

4 – Starfield
Bethesda is behind two of the largest RPG’s of all time, ‘Fallout’ and of course ‘The Elder Scrolls’. Well in 2022, we have an all-new game from them, the first from them in 25 years. So it has a lot of focus and hype around it, and you can see why. Bethesda doing a huge space game, where you will be able to explore a huge area of space, a huge range of planets and all with their usual focus on decision making gameplay. It is a hugely exciting prospect and one we hope they nail.
3 – Horizon: Forbidden West
We head back to the desolate robot lands of post-apocalyptic America in 2022, as we return to the world of Aloy and friends. ‘Horizon: Zero Dawn’ was one of PS4’s best games, so there is a lot of focus on seeing what Guerrilla is breaking to its sequel. So far we have seen astounding new gameplay mechanics, alongside what can only be defined as truly startling beautiful environmental graphics. It looks to be the next big technical showcase for the PS5 and we cannot wait to get our hands on it.
2 – Pokemon Legends: Arceus
We have been waiting many years, but at last, in 2022 we get a truly open-world Pokemon game! It looks like all the waiting will be worth it as well, being able to openly go anywhere, capture any Pokemon and compete against so many opponents, it seems to be a needed refresh for the series and a hugely exciting next instalment in the series.
1 – God of War Ragnarok
This is the game of 2022. In 2018, Santa Monica Studios released ‘God of War’ and it reset what we expected from a single-player game. It was astoundingly pretty, incredibly well detailed but more than anything it was an iconic piece of games writing. Since seeing the end credits roll on the game we have been waiting for a sequel and in 2022 we are getting it! ‘Ragnarok’ looks to take the story of the 2018 game and move it on to deeper and darker territories, as Kratos has to face his past, the outfall of the 2018 game, whilst trying to support his son Atreus become a good future God, something that will most likely not be all that easy. The hype for this game is huge, and the expectations are as large as it gets, but we have hope they will meet, and most likely exceed, everything we are expecting of it!
