It’s been a crazy weekend at San Diego comic con. Everything and everyone from the new Ninja Turtles to the cast of Game of Thrones passed by. A year ago, Zach Snyder unleashed his plans to finally bring together the long awaited sock em up Batman vs Superman. This past Saturday those lucky enough to be on the other side of the world and able to get a seat in Hall H, were the first to see the footage. So before I begin on speculations and worries here’s what Snyder showed.
Batman is armoured up and on the rooftop of the GCPD building. He uncovers the bat signal and sparks it up. The camera pans up to show Superman hovering above, eyes glowing red. Batman is looking back at him, his eyes glowing white.
Snyder also brought the cast on stage…to do absolutely squat with them. Not even a question or “hey how ya doin.” Just “here’s the cast, now let’s piss off.” Plus there was also a single image of Wonder Woman. As expected her costume has had a radical makeover with a more bronze colour rather than the red white and blue. Not much to say on her being muscly and broad like Wonder Woman but hey, Bale and Keaton looked nothing like Bruce Wayne of the comics and it worked out just fine for them.
Warner Bros are keeping details under heavy wraps although all one has to do is have a peak into the DC archives and you have your story. Most notable is Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns especially in scope and feel but hopefully not story. Don’t get me wrong, DKR is a magnificent story about and ageing batman coming out of retirement and having to battle Superman who now works for the government.
At first I was concerned Snyder would do a full on adaption but I think he knows that specific story wouldn’t work especially as a franchise starter. No doubt he is using elements from it and that’s just fine. Plus especially after Man of Steel where Kal states, “You can’t control me and you never will,” to the military, I don’t think he would so easily be a pawn in the governments game.
In fact I think it will be the other way round. Of course this is all speculation and that’s all we can do until the 2016 release. I just hope we will be granted a chance to see some clearer footage and maybe some footage of Wonder Woman too.

I saw the footage and it’s really nothing worth watching. I mean, it doesn’t show Affleck in the bat-suit. Then again I may have watched another video for all I know. I saw the video of him picking up a girl on set and that was about it. He does look a lot like Bruce Wayne though, so I think they chose right again this time.
I saw the so called image of Wonder Woman when it went viral and it was Kristen Stewart. I mean really, she has no strength of character to play a female character like that. She looks like she’s one meal away from death!
If they want someone modern from similar genres, I would suggest Jennifer Lawrence who played Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. At least she has a steely look and a brave attitude about her.
